Mix @ The Max is anything but typical

The typical networking event just sounds boring.  Men in navy blue suits with solid red ties.  Women in black pant suits.  Business cards everywhere.  Finger food that looks like it has been sitting around just a few hours too long.  Uncomfortable conversations about that crazy Michigan weather.  All of this hosted in a non-descript banquet hall.  Tons of schmoozing.  Very little in the way of entertainment, unless, of course you enjoy people watching.

On Monday, April 9, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will defy this stereotype with its networking event Mix @ The Max.  Since the event will be held at the Music Box inside the Max M. Fisher Music Center, you already know the venue will be unique.  Entertainment will be provided by The Knights, an orchestra of friends from New York who work hard to engage their audiences.  With your $25 general admission ticket, you ‘ll also be able to enjoy your first drink at no charge.

“The format of the performance is very unique for a DSO program,” said Heather Mourer, marketing manager for Mix @ The Max. “With pre-concert mingling and networking, a mead tasting provided by B. Nektar Meadery and cabaret-style seating in The Music Box, we’re trying to reach a new audience. We do not currently have a concert series targeting the ever-increasing 22–40 year-old arts-going crowd. This is our way of showing a slightly younger crowd we’re their symphony, too.”

Will you be mixing at the Max with us?

Great idea! Networking at a musical venue will be something different and delightful. I’ve been to the Max M. Fisher Music Center and I think it’s a great place to network. The decor and the atmosphere provide the perfect setting to mingle over some cocktails. I’m certain leaders and supporters of Detroit will be in attendance and missing this event could be disastrous for your future career.
